Work with Katie and Jenny - a dynamic pair with the experience to back it up.
Katie Hamm is the co-founder of All Access Internships (AAI). During her undergraduate education, she learned from both sides of the application process. Many of her campus involvement activities required rigorous application and interview processes prior to acceptance. She later served on selections committees for several noteworthy campus organizations and employment offices. She reviewed applications and served as an interviewer for Quest Freshman Honorary, Silver Key Sophomore Honorary, Student Foundation, Up 'til Dawn Executive Board, Blue Key Senior Honorary, New Student Services, Panhellenic Council and multiple scholarship application review committees. She also worked closely with the scholarship advisor at Kansas State University to learn what selections committees are looking for in written essays. Her knowledge and experience was often sought out by friends and classmates as they applied for jobs, internships and graduate school. Since the launch of AAI, she has answered many personal requests from students for advice on the ins and outs of the application process. She has participated in interviews on the topic for a variety of media outlets including Nutritionjobs.com, K-State Media Relations and the Topeka Capital Journal.
- "To most people, applications seem fairly straightforward. Katie realizes that every application comes nuanced with specific expectations, audiences, and standards that must be met in an effective way. Not only has she successfully completed applications and interviews for her own career and extracurricular endeavors, but she has helped screen and select applicants as the interviewer for numerous organizations. Her extensive experience with both sides of the process--as applicant and employer, interviewer and interviewee--has enabled her to be particularly perceptive when it comes to understanding the application process and thus helping others understand how to navigate through it. - M.H., Truman Scholarship Finalist, Kansas State University
- "Katie was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the application process. Having been on both sides of the process multiple times, Katie was able to ask me questions and give me guidance when before I had no idea where to even begin. Katie's advice, often just minor changes, made such an incredible difference overall." - A.R., MSN Student, Pediatric Oncology, University of Pennsylvania
- "Katie helped me prepare for my first big job interview, which I ultimately ended up landing. Katie was a crucial part of my successful interview. She took me through her interviewing experiences, as an interviewer and interviewee; we went through some role-playing exercises; and she provided me with constructive criticism. I can honestly say that without Katie's help I would not have had the confidence or ability to do well in my interview." - K.L., Bank Examiner, Salina, KS
- "Katie assisted in reviewing, editing, and giving advice to my personal statement, which is a critical component of a law school application. Katie excelled in understanding my viewpoints as well as communicating her own ideas. With her guidance, I was able to submit a much improved personal statement to the schools I wished to apply." - J.S., Law School Applicant, Shawnee, KS
Jenny Westerkamp, RD is the co-founder of All Access Internships (AAI). Since the launch of AAI in October 2008, Jenny has received numerous requests to help both individuals and groups of students with the internship application process. She was asked to speak as a panelist at a seminar for a college in Boston and has also written about the topic for a variety of outlets, including the ADA Student Scoop, Feed Your Career, Today@MDA, and Ventures. She lent her critical eye to resumes, application letters, and applications from across the country. Having gone through this process only two years ago, Jenny understands the stressful nature of gaining the competitive edge in securing a dietetic internship spot. In fact, Jenny was selected among more than one hundred nationwide applicants to receive a spot in the Massachusetts General Hospital Dietetic Internship Program. With these past experiences and the day-to-day communication that she has with countless AAI users, Jenny feels as though she has already been an adviser to hundreds of students! She hopes to continue advising the future of the dietetics profession in an important step towards becoming a registered dietitian.
- "You helped me more than I can say in my internship application process, I believe your critique of my application letter truly made the difference in making me stand out. I am at an internship I love. Thank you!" -M.G., St. Louis, MO
- "As part of the Student Involvement Program I have had the opportunity to work with Jenny for the past year. Jenny is a clear communicator and focused on all aspects of AAI. With any thoughts or questions that I may have, I can rest assured that Jenny's email response will shortly follow. Jenny has taken the time to make every experience working with AAI a rewarding one." -R.C., Dietetic Intern, Simmons College
- "It was really nice to have someone check it that doesn't know me AND who has been through the process." -J.S., Distance Dietetic Intern, University of Delaware
- "Jenny provided insightful and critical evaluations of my dietetic internship letters of application. Her analysis of my essays provided professional feedback, logical flow and sentence structure, and striking vocabulary to weave into my letters of application. Additionally, her feedback was efficiently returned to me-within 24 hours!" - Dietetic Intern, College of St. Elizabeth
- "Jenny provided a lot of support as I navigated the Dietetic Internship application process. She was patient in answering many questions I had about several of the Internship Programs. She also proofed an initial draft of my application letter. Jenny's insight and guidance helped me tremendously since she had gone through this process already and was in the middle of her own Dietetic Internship. I'm now in an Internship that fits me perfectly." - C.C., Dietetic Intern, Southcoast Hospitals Group
