What was the workload like?

There are clinical packets (completed before the internship even begins), lots of paperwork (some of which can count towards hours), case studies, class presentations (near the beginning of the year), and a few homework assignments per rotation (they don't take too long). One thing that needed to be completed each week was the time sheet/journal entry. Some weeks they would be fast, but sometimes when there were a lot of activities going on, they took more time.
What was the workload like?

We had to do a reasearch paper on a topic of our choice.
What was the workload like?

We were constantly putting together presentations, educational programs, etc.

Describe where you lived during the internship and how you found housing.

Most areas are pretty safe from what I have heard, some good ones to look at are: Keene, Walpole, Nelson/Granite Lake, Marlborough and Peterborough. There are also little towns and areas in between all of these that can be pretty nice.

Keene seemed like a very safe place and the campus is centrally located. I think any neighborhood would be fine.

Why did you choose to apply to this program?

This program does not have as big of a clinical focus as many others do, and it is very community & wellness focused. You are able to spend a lot of your required hours on elective activities and completing projects that meet your personal and professional goals & interests. For me, as for many others, local food is a big focus, and this is a great area for workshops, activities and Farmers' Markets.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?

I like thed emphasis on community nutrition, and the alternative nutrition aspect was very appealing. The program also gave interns alot of freedom in choosing rotations and making the program more personalized.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?

Because of the wellness education focus. I came from a very alternative graduate school and I was looking for an internship that would see that as a benefit rather than superfluous information. I also liked the flexibility and freedom of a program that I could tailor to my interests.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?

This program is community based. I was looking for an internship that was not as focused on clinical dietetics.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?

The program had a strong community dietetic emphasis which was of interest to me.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?

My advisor showed me the brochure for Keene State Internship and it was the only "wellness focused" internship throughout the county. Keene State College Internship's program is a very flexibile, self building program with a large focus on prevention verse treatment. Plus they offered master credits in Nutrition Education, which was also a plus.

What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?

For any student applying to any program (however especially this one) - be yourself. Internship matching is really all about finding the perfect fit for the interns and the internships. By portraying yourself in a different light, you might end up getting placed in a program that isn't the best fit for you.

What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?

My DPD director gave us tips on the interview and personal statement. The internship director told us "to apply to the program we are most passionate about because it will show through." That was the best piece of advice that I received.
