What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
If you have a high GPA and took the GRE (recommended, as you stand out), then you\'re off to a good start, as this program ranks your GPA very high. Having experience on your resume is a plus, and writing a unique personal statement is key to making an impression--there is no interview for this internship.
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
Make the personal statement to the point and very simple. Mine was not more than a page. However, I feel like I got my point across. DO NOT stress over anything!!!! Take one day at a time. It's an internship, its not the end of the world!!! If I had my own advice, I wish I had someone to tell me not to worry!!! Honestly!!
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
Personal statement - you'll hear this over and over and over again...this is your opportunity to stand out and to really give the committee and insight into your life and why you want to enter the field. Don't just blow it off or put something together in a few minutes. Write, read, re-vise, re-read, have someone else look at it, re-vise, re-read...you get the point. Put time into it!
Experience - take any opportunity you have to gain some experience. Volunteer at a local hospital in the diet office (or anywhere else...just volunteering in a hospital scores you points). Join clubs and organizations at school and get involved.
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
- have some experience in a hospital setting, whether it be as a volunteer, diet office worker, or foodservice worker. - There is no interview. - The personal statement is handwritten, in order for it to be more "personalized" in the words of the internship director. Be honest, be candid, express your career aspirations/dreams and why the internship would help you achieve them, and what you can offer to the program. - Be organized and neat. - GREs don't matter. - Grades do matter, but a GPA of above a 3.0 should be fine. - Get a recommendation letter from your DPD director.
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
Send a thank you note. And get hospital experiance. It sets you apart.

What was the workload like?
There aren\'t any required projects outside of the program, but there are many opportunities to participate in ongoing patient care projects or research projects.
What was the workload like?
What was the workload like?
You are required to complete a portfolio by the end of the internship. Basically you are compiling work you have done and showing how you met the competencies.
Modules for each rotation (long, but not hard).
What was the workload like?
Portfolio, Modules for each rotation, little projects (educational materials, case studies, abstracts)

Describe your rotations and other professional experiences (field trips, seminars, workshops or professional conferences).
There are many clinical areas that you rotate through during this internship. I feel confident that I could work in any hospital after having been through them all. It takes a few days to get familiar with the new rotation and how your preceptor operates, but by the third week it becomes second nature. The first half of the internship has \"entry level\" rotations (cardiac, endocrine, neurology, med/surg, etc), so that by the time you reach the second half, your \"advanced\" rotations (nutrition support, burn, pediatrics, etc) will be more meaningful because you\'ll know the basics. You see about 7-10 patients per day, more on weekends. Computer charting makes things more efficient (for the most part).

Describe where you lived during the internship and how you found housing.
Live in the annex! Housing is available to all NYP interns.
I lived in the nurses\' annex, which is a part of the Weill Cornell campus. It\'s so convenient and cheap ($275/month), and you have everything you need here: laundry, kitchen, bathroom, lounge (complete with an exercise bike and TV). The medical college library is right here too, so you can always head over there or down to the nutrition office if you need to use a resource late at night

The upper east side.
Describe where you lived during the internship and how you found housing.
Not sure. I stayed in student housing. In general, most areas of the city are safe. I would be careful in the Harlem area and anywhere too late at night.

Why did you choose to apply to this program?
It has a very strong clinical focus (not to mention very diverse and comprehensive), which I was interested in. NYP has an amazing reputation and the resources available to interns are numerous. The location was also attractive to me, and it\'s very affordable compared to other internships.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
The program's clinical focus definitely drew me in. Also, the prestige of the hospital itself and the opportunity to gain experience in pediatrics at MSCHNY. Plus, there is an opportunity to get a scholarship! Definitely apply!
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
- Location: NYC is a great place to live, especially as a young adult. - Housing: The internship provides housing in "The Annex", which is an 8'x11" room, and the living conditions are far from stellar, but it's a steal, and a perk to live in Manhattan for that cheap. - Reputation: NY-Presbyterian Hospital is known to be one of the best internship programs in New York. - Clinical Experience: Although the program is almost twice as long as most internship programs, you really get thorough experience in EVERYTHING. there are specialized rotations (Pediatrics, Pediatric Nutrition Support, Burn Center) that you might not get anywhere else. - Cost: It's not all that expensive.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
That the program was so focused on clinical. I had previously worked in food service and restaurants and felt that I wanted to focus my learning on the clinical field, as nutrition practice extends from clinical experiance.
