For Graduate Program Interns Only: Comment on combining your graduate work with your internship.
What was the workload like?
During the clinical rotation you have 2 major projects. One is a case study paper and presentation (the most time consuming and detailed project). The second is a standard of care project requiring you to research a disease and come up with the common nutritional recommendations. Another major project is a research presentation which just requires you to pick any topic and give a presentation on your findings. You also have another research type project which is different for every person. Throughout every rotation you will have readings and other short homework assignments. Overall very doable.
Describe your rotations and other professional experiences (field trips, seminars, workshops or professional conferences).
Describe where you lived during the internship and how you found housing.
North Colorado Springs has been a great area. Downtown is a good area also. I would suggest staying between downtown and north. The south area is a little less appealing.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
This internship is a generalized program in which you get a wide variety of experiences. There is plenty of foodservice, clinical, and different community rotations. If you don't know what you want to do you get plenty of opportunities to figure out what area suits you. Plus it is located in the beautiful state of Colorado!

What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
It is important to stand out in some way. Of course good grades, outside experiences, working or volunteering help. The personal statement which must be handwritten is probably the most important part of your application. There are no interviews so expressing your true self in the personal statement is key. Make sure you follow all directions and address all questions that are asked in the letter. Showing that you truly want to be a dietitian and that you will be a great intern with a lot of dedication is important.
