What was the workload like?
It varied for everyone, but we all had a number of case studies we had to have. We had a number of presentations as well.
What was the workload like?
Homework assignments (short answer/essay questions), 5 page case studies, about 3 presentations
What was the workload like?
1 case study presentation, 1 equipment project presentation where we have to present about a piece of kitchen equipment and describe the need for it in a foodservice setting, homework and care plans for each clinical rotation, tray assessments (to monitor temp and correctness of the At Your Request Meal Service).
What was the workload like?
We did a case study presentation on an outpatient, a piece of food service equipment, and on any nutrition topic we wanted to managers/staff. Most rotations had homework sets and a case study.
What was the workload like?
Every clinical preceptor assigned homework assignments and a 7-10 pg case study.
What was the workload like?
Equipment project presentation - research a peice of kitchen equipment and present about it to the other interns and some management. Out-patient case studies presentation Homework for clinical rotations including research and answering questions.

Describe where you lived during the internship and how you found housing.
Some nice areas, some bad…..be very careful….I live on the “cusp” of the ghetto; Cost of living is $450 per person for my apt., which is on the cheaper side for New Haven. If you live alone, expect to pay at least $1000 if you want to live within walking distance. Downtown New Haven (small big town, the Yale buildings are pretty, off of campus is very unsafe, traffic is bad in the southern Connecticut area, homeless people on the street asking for money is common); Mostly walking around New Haven. Can walk to a grocery store. Use my car to get out of town for bigger shopping trips and traveling
Describe where you lived during the internship and how you found housing.
Semi-safe. New Haven is an urban city. There is crime but we just know where not to go. Cost of living? High!!! A container of a reg. size detergent costs $9 sometimes. Gas is currently $4.30 for regular. A loaf of wheat bread is sometimes $3. On the coast of CT. A 2 hour train ride to Grand Central in NYC.

Why did you choose to apply to this program?
I met a RD who I respected and looked up to who attended the internship and receommended it to me.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
The name/reputation, stipend, cost
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
It was a long shot! I didn’t think I'd get in! It was close to my home in NY. Prestige of the Yale name; It had a peds rotation; Specialty rotation opportunity, staff relief opportunities, really rare patient diagnoses.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
The name, wanted to get out of midwest, cost, number of interns.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
I liked that it had a strong clinical emphasis and was a lengthy program (50 weeks). I knew that this would give me great experiences and I'd have the opportunity to work with many different kinds of dietitians.
Why did you choose to apply to this program?
The recognized name "Yale" I thought it would be a great experience for my resume. I hoped that it would ensure jobs after the internship.

Paid with savings and loans; Only outside sources are available for this internship. I would try to find scholarships from various sources as anything helps!
Please comment on paying for this internship.
savings, working extra at the hospital, my parents’ support; I try to spend nothing. I hate asking my parents for money. We have some field trips that we have to pay entrance fees for and I donate gas money to the person driving (4 out of 12 of us don’t have cars here since New Haven is a walkable city)

What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
Be honest and be yourself. Show the readers how much you really want sucess in the dietetics field. Read into the internship and really know what they have to offer. Speak with current interns before applying to the internship.
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
Grades, experience, GRE, outside activities are important
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
GRE is required, which is wh not many people apply (and the fact that most people don't think they will get into "Yale"); 1 page length for letter of application is appropriate; Apply to as many as you can afford. There are more people applying than there are spots. You have to appear to be unique and better in all aspects of your life compared to the other people applying.
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
Was told if it was my number one choice to make sure to say that in my personal statement.
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
Definitely visit the hospital if you can. Bring a list of questions for the dietetic intern that is going to give you the tour. Often times when you're there you're really trying to take things in and you'll forget your questions, it's much easier if you have them written down.
What is your best application advice to applicants of this program?
This program is really long. Consider this before you apply. If you like the program, apply! The applicant pool may not be as competitive as you imagine. Make sure someone reviews your personal statement for grammar and spelling.
